OPG

An OPG (Orthopantomogram) is a panoramic dental X-ray that provides a wide view of the lower face, displaying all the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws, as well as the jawbone, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and sinus structures.

  • Dental Assessment:
    • Detecting dental problems such as cavities, impacted teeth, and periodontal (gum) disease.
    • Assessing wisdom teeth position and need for extraction.
  • Jaw and Bone Issues:
    • Evaluating the jawbone structure and detecting fractures, cysts, or other abnormalities.
    • Diagnosing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
  • Orthodontic Planning:
    • Used by orthodontists to plan treatments like braces or other corrective measures by showing teeth alignment and spacing.
  • Oral Surgery Planning:
    • Assists in pre-surgical evaluations, especially for implants or other complex dental surgeries.
